Katie Church

Today's Spotlight Artist is Katie Church.

Katie is a freshman and intended graphic design major at ECU. She is involved with

ECU Emerging New Talent, SAB promotions, Dj at WZMB, and is also a part of the Art and design LLC.

Katie has many talents and says she appreciates and has always participated in all art forms. All throughout high school she was involved with theatre; which included singing, dancing, and acting. Katie says her favorite art form is. singing. She also loves digital art, photography, and photo manipulation. Along with visual art she also loves writing and reading poetry and said it helps her a lot when it comes to song writing.

Katie has been singing all her life and has been playing guitar for about 5 years now. She started playing guitar because she wanted to perform in her high school's talent shows, but she didn't want to stand up there and just sing like everyone else. S thought the guitar playing would make her stick out and make her performance more meaningful.

Katie said her biggest influences are U2, Coldplay, Third Eye blind, and the Goo Goo dolls. Those are the main artist she grew up with and still loves. But today is more influenced by electronic artists like Daft Punk, Z Porter Robinson, Madeon, Flume, and FKA twigs just to name a couple. She said she would like to try to start making electronic music of her own soon.
