Trey is a Senior here at East Carolina and will soon be graduating with a Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy. He is an active member of the Kappa Kappa Psi fraternity and the semi-acapella group, Signature Sounds.
Trey has been singing since the age of 5 and playing piano and trumpet since 11. He started out singing in the Youth Choir in church every 4th Sunday, over time it became a way of self expression and meeting new people. Trey describes music as a gateway to many things. He noticed that the more he performed, the more respect he was given; even from people who at one point did not like him.
Trey says that he was destined to be a musician because it runs in his family, which is one of his biggest inspirations. Other influences include his church and his best friend. "Without them I wouldn't have made it as far as I have." Which is pretty far! Trey has been the winner of ECU Stars 3 times and just last night was announced the winner of the 2016 Pirates Got Talent along with XBrodie after a powerful performance of their song, Verdict. Trey speaks very high of his friend Xavier Brodie. "His passion for music mixed with my love for it makes for one heck of a project I tell you." We saw this earlier last week when Trey tweeted their song Purple & Gold, the new Pirate anthem.
Trey was featured in the newspaper for leading the Heart and Soul Choir. He said he hopes to change lives through music; whether it be recording, teaching, writing or singing, his main goal is to inspire people to be their best.
Congratulations, Trey!
